Ice Skating – A FUN winter activity

Another fun activity to stay fit in the winter – ice skating.

Check out your local community center arenas as many of them offer adult and family skating times. Many cities have outdoor rinks too. Best place to check is your city’s website.

If you need to rent skates, be sure to call ahead to see if rentals are offered. If you really want to try this sport and rentals aren’t available, check out Play It Again Sports who offer used sporting equipment. If you want new skates, go to SportChek, of course.

Items I wear ice skating:

  • Hockey skates – easier to skate with than figure skates. Figure skates have toe picks which are used primarily for jumping, footwork and spins.
  • Hockey helmet (any helmet is better than no helmet).
  • Wrist guards – same ones I wear in-line skating.
  • G-form – compression shorts, knee pads, and elbow pads – Check out my blog on G-Form here.

Happy adventuring! #getoutside ♥
