Mountain Warehouse – Great reliable clothing, reasonable prices

I needed a new ski / snow jacket and snow pants so we went to the normal big box stores hoping to grab a good deal.

I’ve been looking since December and I finally spent some money.

I’ll start with the jacket. I really wanted a ski jacket that would keep me warm as it takes me a long time to warm up, it needed lots of pockets (more than 2) and lightweight.

There’s no way I was going to spend over $300 for only a jacket.

Then I came across this store called “MOUNTAIN WAREHOUSE” 🙂 These stores are smaller than your average outdoor store, but they have a wide selection of outdoor clothes.

I purchased their Slopestyle Extreme Slim Fit Jacket. This jacket has everything I wanted, AND MORE!

Jacket Features as per Mountain Warehouse’s website:

Sleek and high performance, the Slope Style Extreme Ski Jacket is ideal for your next ski expedition. The jacket is highly breathable and fully waterproof with taped seams, detachable snowskirt and in-built RECCOO avalanche technology.

  • Waterproof 10,000mm – Tested to withstand 10,000mm of rain in a 24 hour period, suitable for extremely heavy rain
  • Breathable – The fabric allows perspiration to pass out of the garment, keeping you cool and comfortable. Rated at 5,000mm
  • Recco® Reflectors – Advanced rescue technology, RECCO® Reflectors bounce back location information in case of an avalanche
  • Thermal Tested -30 °C – Laboratory tested. Health & physical activity, exposure time & perspiration will affect performance & comfort
  • Slim fit – has a snug fit and designed to create an athletic body shape
  • Lift Pass Pocket – Sleeve pocket for quick access or use with electronic lift pass
  • Taped Seams – All seams are taped to make this item fully waterproof
  • Detachable Snowskirt – Helps prevent snow getting inside your jacket if you take a tumble. Detachable.
  • Adjustable Hood – Easily adjusted for the perfect fit

Now that I found my perfect jacket, I needed snow pants. I do have ski pants, but if you’re a skier, you will know they are wider at the ankle to fit over the ski boot. I was looking for a slimmer pant because when we go SkiBiking, I don’t want my pant to get caught on the foot pegs.

I found Avalanche Women’s High-Wasted Slim Fit Ski Pant. They fit amazing and because they fit higher on the waist, they are comfortable when bending over and snow doesn’t go up my back. They are also a great pant to hike in, which we do a lot of too. Comfortable, lightweight, thin and most of all, they kept me warm.

I do wear a light base layer under my snow pants, which I will discuss in another post.

Ski Pant Features as per Mountain Warehouse’s website:

Get ready to ski in style and comfort with the Avalanche High Waisted Ski Pants. Snowproof fabric, thermal lined for improved insulation and with RECCO technology for better security – perfect for your next ski adventure.

  • Snowproof – Treated with a Durable Water Repellent, this makes the fabric water resistant. Great entry level skiwear
  • Recco® Reflectors – Advanced rescue technology, Recco reflectors bounce back location information in case of avalanche
  • Snow Gaiters – Helps to prevent snow getting into your salopettes
  • Scuff Guards – A extra durable piece of fabric located on the inside of the ankle, designed to protect the fabric from fraying and tears
  • High Rise – The waist sits just above the belly button
  • Slim fit – has a snug fit and designed to create an athletic body shape

When you’re looking at any type of clothing, just because it has a famous symbol on it, doesn’t mean it’s made of good quality.

Looking closely at the zippers and seams of my new jacket and ski/snow pant, a lot of care was made in producing these items.

Kudo’s to Mountain Warehouse. Looking forward to visiting you you in the Spring and Summer months.
