According to Canada’s Environmental and Natural Resources website – “It is home to a wealth of wildlife, including birds, frogs, turtles, amphibians, insects and many other species, all of which rely on wetland habitats.”
We rented kayaks from Cronmiller’s At The Bridge. They are such a lovely couple who own the property and also work there. We rented 2 single kayaks for 4 hours for only $30 each – which is a great deal!!
You can park on their property and launch straight from there then paddle into Lake Erie or near Big Creek Natural Wildlife Area. We kayaked the latter as we weren’t permitted to enter Big Creek as it’s private property.
So we decided to paddle on the outskirts of Big Creek Natural Wildlife Area down a creek. We paddled for over 2 hours seeing lots of birds, fish and a snapping turtle the size of a 35″ tire. Before I was able to snap a picture, the turtle was already swimming away.
We will definitely be going back to Long Point and renting kayaks from Cronmiller’s At The Bridge again.
