The Dofasco 2000 Rail Trail, located in Hamilton, Ontario, is a 11.5km trail made up of hard crushed gravel, paved road and boardwalk.
At one end, the trail starts directly across Ridge Road from Devil’s Punchbowl Lookout. There is paid parking at Devil’s Punchbowl and no parking along the side of the street. At the other end of the trail, at Eleventh Road East, there is also no parking.
The boardwalks are nice features of the trail as it provides scenic views of the swamps and rivers. Lots of wildlife to see here.
The trail doesn’t seem well travelled so it was very peaceful, even on the weekend.
As noted on Ontario Trails website, The Dofasco 2000 Trail is going to be extended to Fifty Point Conservation Area and Marina on Lake Ontario. This is fantastic news as we love to hear about trail expansion, anywhere is the world. Kudos’s, City of Hamilton!
